In the early 1970s, my father was a young man working in the oilfields of West Texas. He was tough and rugged, and he loved the cowboy lifestyle. So when he had the opportunity to buy a western wear store in his hometown of Odessa, he jumped at the chance.
My father named the store Harmons Western Wear, after my grandfather Harold Harmon. The store was a success from day one. My dad had an eye for quality western clothing and accessories, and he quickly built up a loyal customer base.
As a child, I spent many hours in the store helping my dad out. I would dust off boots, fold shirts, and run errands for him. I loved being around all of the beautiful cowboy gear, and it wasn’t long before I developed a passion for it myself.
